The Houston Heights
Association owns or operates three
properties for the public's enjoyment. Two
properties, the Heights City Hall & Fire
Station and Marmion Park, are available for
a user fee:
Houston Heights City Hall & Fire Station -
107 W. 12th @ Yale
This 7,000 square foot building, built in
1914, served as Houston Heights' city hall,
mayor's office, tax assessor's office, jail,
and fire station. The building has changed
little since its construction and is located
at 12th and Yale Streets. It operated as a
City of Houston fire station from annexation
from 1918 until 1995. The Houston Heights
Association obtained a 30-year lease from
the City of Houston and immediately began
restoration of this beautiful, historic
building. Restoration was complete in April
1997and includes a catering kitchen and a
chairlift. In December 2009 the
Association purchased the facility. It is perfect for wedding receptions, small
and large business meetings, civic
organizations, social clubs, parties,
reunions or holiday gatherings.

Marmion Park
- 1802 Heights Blvd.
Located on Heights Boulevard at 18th Street,
Marmion
Park is the original location of the Cooley mansion, one of the first
houses built in
Houston Heights. The house was
demolished in 1965. The land sat vacant
until 1979 when it was purchased by the
Houston Heights Association for the purpose
of constructing Marmion
Park, named in honor of the last mayor of
Houston
Heights, J. B. Marmion. The park's award-winning Kaiser Pavilion was designed
to emulate the Cooley home's unique turret.
This beautiful, tree-lined park and large
gazebo are extremely popular for wedding
ceremonies.
Donovan Park - 700 Heights Blvd.
Donovan
Park, home of "The Heights Playground" built in 1996, is a
perfect location for children's birthday
parties and similar events. It is "available
on a first-come, first-served basis". We do
request; however, that you take your party
trash with you. For the safety of our
children, barbeque pits are not allowed. |
