Volunteer Appreciation and Community Improvements Awards Dinner
It’s just about time for one of our favorite nights of the year, the Annual Volunteer Appreciation & Awards Dinner! This will be the 45th edition of what is our longest standing event, and there’s good reason this one has stuck around. This night is a way to honor our past and set our intention for the future, thanking those who have helped make Houston Heights what it is today, and recognizing those who have now grabbed the volunteer torch and are running with it. If you enjoy living here, but can’t put your finger on exactly why that is, it likely has something to do with the amazing people who will be at this dinner. We will be honored to also have Mayor Sylvester Turner drop by this year!
In addition to honoring the people and businesses who are the heartbeat of the neighborhood, we’ll also be announcing the winners of the 2018 Community Improvement Awards, which recognize the new/renovated homes and businesses which most improve the look, feel, quality of life, or character of Houston Heights. In other words, the ones that keep the Heights “Heights-y.” The returning Chair of this year’s Community Improvement Awards is Jason Starr.
This fun, uplifting evening is open to all (whether you’re a current resident or simply an admirer) and will take place on Sunday, February 24th at the Houston Heights Fire Station. Doors will open at 5:00 PM for a happy hour (BYOB), followed by dinner at 6:00 PM. Andrea Hellyer and Bill Baldwin are back once again to co-chair the program portion of the event, which will start around 7:00 PM, and will include the announcement of the winners of the Citizen of the Year, Rising Star, and Marcella Perry awards, among others.
To get a better feel for what this night is all about, you can check out our recap of last year’s dinner, and be sure to purchase your tickets soon, as seating is limited. Attire is dressy casual.
Tickets are $30 per person, $240 for a table of 8, or $270 for a table of 10. You can purchase tickets by visiting our online store.
